About Susan E. Koenig

Susan’s life experiences include social services, public policy, health care, and community involvement. Her heart is rooted in the Midwest, but her stories answer the uneven tide of imagination.

A recurring theme in Susan’s writing is people who make tough decisions but stumble, creating problems for themselves which they must face and overcome. Looking for help with her writing questions, she finds clarity in advice from successful writers, past and present, a precious resource and the basis for her reviews of books on writing.

Her mantra for brain fog days, gleaned from books, conferences, and writing buddies, is to look outward for technique, investigate what we think we know, squeeze juice from our own experiences, and look inward to uncover truth in our fiction.

Her short stories have appeared in Well Versed, published by the Columbia Chapter of the Missouri Writers Guild, and Interpretations, a pairing of literary and visual artists, published by the Columbia Art League.
